Two weeks ago was Italiano's birthday. It was really nice out and we decided to go for a walk in the park. Our choice was Batsto Village. This is a historical park located in Wharton State Forest in Southern New Jersey. Let me give you a little history about the place. This site was part of the Batsto Iron Works built by Charles Read along the Batsto River back in 1766. For more information about its history, please visit there site at here.
Joseph Wharton bought this property back in 1868. Can you imagine the workers homes where leased at $2.00 a month. But they have farm rules but I could not phantom surviving if you take me to that time period. Workers must do their morning chores including breakfast before 6 in the morning. A bell will ring and immediately they have to start working. Unnecessary talking or unnecessary noice of any sort or smoking during work hours where prohibited. Really if you want me to go coo-coo (although I am borderline) take me back to that era. Anyway, eere is a picture of the workers home.
