Since my family is nowhere near, our holidays are mostly spent with Italiano's family. The similarities in our culture and religious belief made it easy for me to connect with his family. He is blessed (like me) with a loving and wonderful parents, siblings, aunt and uncle. (sipsip!!! in English suck-up) I was not able to take pictures of the main course. Everything stops when its chow time. Trust me it has always been that way.
While his parents were preparing dinner, several aperitivo were served. They have pepperoni, olives, roasted pepper, bruchetta, bread and my two favorite, Italian hard sausage and cheese. This year, Italiano and I decided not to get the kids Easter basket. Instead, we did an egg hunt. Inside the plastic eggs were Cadbury Chocolate and some cash. The three kids where running around the room searching for the eggs. It was so cute.
His family serves lasagna for starter. Then the rest of the meal follows. This Easter, we had pork, broccoli rabe, broccoli, sweet potatoes and apple sauce. My taste buds still savor every bit of it. Then there's the dessert. Cakes, brownies and freshly brewed coffee were layed on the table. The one thing I enjoy on their family gatherings are the connection they have. It does make me think of times I had with my family. Those moments we will be eating and talk about almost anything. I really miss them.
So, how was Easter like?
