The title on John Cloud's article is very catchy and true in some event.
The basic problem is that while it's true that exercise burns calories and that you must burn calories to lose weight, exercise has another effect: it can stimulate hunger. That causes us to eat more, which in turn can negate the weight-loss benefits we just accrued. Exercise, in other words, isn't necessarily helping us lose weight. It may even be making it harder.I believe that the point he is trying to send across is how exercise alone will not make you thin. For instance, on a day where you are eating 3 donuts, 5 slices pepperoni pizza, a pint of double fudge chocolate ice cream, an egg roll, fried rice, general tso’s and spend 20 mins on a threadmill walking leisurely. THEN HONEY WAKE UP. You did not burn those gazillion of calories you intake and the answer is NO you will not lose weight. I believe we tend to over look and do the things correctly so we have something to complain about.
I am no expert but “PROPER” diet with a combination of workout will DO help you lose weight. I know because I am doing and living it. If you would like to read more of his article click below.
